The Community Support Brigade (CSB) of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) at the community level will be engineered to work with non-governmental organizations for community policing, peace and harmony at the grassroots as it has the relevant capacity.

The Director General of NOA, Mr. Mike Omeri disclosed this when the management team of the Global Initiative for Harmony in Nigeria (GIHN) paid him a visit in Abuja.

Omeri said this initiative will be driven by youths and monitored by the elders of the community, adding that it will also provide counseling to make better understanding of the Change mantra of the present administration possible. He stated that by rejecting antisocial behaviour and imbibing our core values, the youth will make Nigeria a great and progressive nation.

The DG NOA called on Nigerians to wake up to the responsibility of ownership of the nation and not allow other people take possession of the country, “We must take possession of our country and we can only do this by doing things that will lead to development. Staying together in peace and harmony is the driving force to achieve this” he said.

He  also admonished Nigerians to embrace positive change in their attitudes a begining with the individual as only that will transform Nigeria into a peaceful, harmonious, progressive and developed country.

In her remarks, the Commandant General of the Global Initiative, Ambassador Elizabeth Omini said the mission of the organization is to promote peace and harmony at the community level which also falls in line with the mandate of the Agency. She said the Initiative will partner with NOA to mobilize the youth to preach the message of peace at the grassroots level and also discourage antisocial behaviour in the country.
